Statement of Faith

"Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. "  Jude 3

New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church was organized on September 11, 1869.  We have been earnestly contending for the faith (the same faith) once delivered unto the saints (Jude 3) since the church was organized.

The following is the Abstract of Principles (Statement of Faith) that was recorded in the church minutes when the Church was organized.

We believe in the one and true living God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe the Bible, (King James Version) is the inspired word of God and our only rule of faith and practice.

We believe in the doctrine of original sin and man's inability to recover himself from the fallen state - he is a sinner by nature, and can do nothing to save himself.

We believe that sinners are justified in the sight of God only by the merits of Jesus Christ.

We believe that saints shall be preserved in grace and not one of them in hell.

We believe in the resurrection of the dead.

We believe that Baptism and the Lord's Supper are the only ordinances of Jesus Christ and that only true believers are the only subjects and immersion the only true mode for scriptural baptism.
We believe that the Joy of the Righteous and the punishment of the wicked will be eternal.

We believe that true believers who have been scripturally baptized and belong to the Lord's church, are the only persons who have a right to commune at the Lord's Table.

We believe that all associations should be the servants of the churches and controlled by them.
